Nature Sketches - 01

I started drawing plants shortly after moving to California and haven't stopped since. These are all on hand-cut cards that are 12.5 x 8.5cm, the biggest that would fit in the zip-up pen case I use as a travel art kit. The first thing I learned in doing these was how to draw standing up rather than at a table. In time I started taking my supplies on hikes, stopping here and there for quick sketches. These have given me so much confidence in my art through the unpredictable tasks of my daily work. Finally scanning and posting them is refreshing. All of these are from 2019 and most took between 30-60 minutes.
